School District Dialogues with School Board Members (posted 01.30.18)

School Board members have scheduled three dates in the coming months to meet with residents and hold an open dialogue to discuss resident concerns or questions.  Meetings will be held at the Bedford Public Library, in the Richmond room, from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, February 13, 2018
  • Thursday, March 29, 2018
  • Wednesday, April 04, 2018

FIRST Power Up Week Zero Event 02/17/18 (posted 01.22.18)

FIRST Robotics, Bedford High School, and Red Storm Team 509 are proud to present the 2018 FIRST Power Up Week Zero event on Saturday, February 17th from 8am-3pm at Bedford High School. Team 509 will be hosting the event at which 30 other teams will be participating. This year's theme "FIRST Power Up" promises to be exciting to watch. If you're free on Saturday the 17th please plan on attending to cheer on our local team and see what all the excitement is about with STEM.

Two Hour Delay - Tuesday, January 23, 2018

Due to the icy conditions, the Bedford School District will have a two hour delay today. There will be no AM Kindergarten and no AM Preschool. While most roads are treated, some side roads and driveways remain very slippery. The delay will provide time for temperatures to rise. Be careful. It is really slippery out there.

Bedford High School & Ross Lurgio Middle School: Meatball or Chicken Sausage Sub, Shredded Cheese, Sauteed Onions & Peppers,Oven Baked Shoe String Fries, Baked Beans & Fresh Fruit or Fruit Cup. 
McKelvie Intermediate School: WG French Toast Sticks or Egg & Cheese on WG Croissant, Breakfast Sausage Patty, Fresh Cucumber Coins, Fresh Broccoli Trees, Hummus, Fresh Banana or Fruit Cup.
Elementary Schools: WG Crazy Cheesy Bread w/ Marinara Dipping Sauce, Fresh Baby Carrots, Roasted Broccoli, Fresh Fruit or Fruit Cup. 
Lunch menu will resume on Friday.

2 Hour Delay for Friday January 5, 2018

At this point, we are planning on a two-hour delay tomorrow. There will be no AM Kindergarten and no AM Preschool. This will give time for the drivers with the department of public works to clear the roads and manage drifting snow. It will also allow our maintenance team to clear access to our schools. Stay warm and be careful on the roads.

No School Due to Snow Storm - January 4, 2018

The Bedford schools will be closed tomorrow (Thursday, January 4, 2018) due to the coming snowstorm. The National Weather Service in Gray, Maine had posted this Winter Storm Warning:
  • WHAT: Heavy snow and blowing snow expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute on Thursday. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 10 inches, with localized amounts up to 14 inches, are expected.
  • WHERE: Portions of New Hampshire and western Maine.
  • WHEN: From 7 AM Thursday to 4 AM EST Friday.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.
  • PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: A Winter Storm Warning for snow and blowing snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

January 2, 2018 - 2 Hour Delay

The Bedford School District will have a 2 hour delay today. There is no AM Kindergarten or AM Preschool. This is because our buses have had trouble starting in the cold.
