Covid-19 - 3.12.20 Update (posted 03.12.20)

Covid-19 - 3.12.20 Update
Dear Bedford Families ~

I sent a text this morning indicating that I would have an update tomorrow (3/13).  After meeting with School Principals and participating in a state conference call today, I am able to provide an update now.

Covid-19
The Bedford School District continues to communicate with the NH DHHS as well as our local EMS regarding Covid-19.  Below are updates from these ongoing conversations:
· There has been a case of COVID-19 reported in the town of Bedford. The risk is isolated, and the schools are remaining open. We will continue to actively monitor the situation with the authorities.
· We will continue to ask for your calm and measured resolve as we work though this situation together.
· The BSD has been developing plans for remote instruction in the event that schools are required to implement remote learning. BSD will provide a 1-page summary document next week.
· We encourage you to begin making contingency plans for childcare, just in case. We may not be able to provide advanced notice.
· The BSD and PTG have cancelled ALL GRANDPARENTS DAY events due to that population being particularly susceptible.
· All school events/trips between today and April vacation will be either postponed/modified or cancelled.  Each school will communicate the specifics in their notes THIS FRIDAY.
· BHS & RAL are working through Tri-County & NHIAA regarding all sporting events. Notice will be provided under a separate cover.

We will send you updates as information and/or plans change.  As always, please direct questions to your child’s school.

Thank you for your thoughtful engagement and support.

Mike (Superintendent)
